  The Technological Advantage -

May 07, 2013

Most businesses readily acknowledge the advantages of technology and adopt it; Mark Anderson goes further ... passionately.

Since establishing Proform Products 22 years ago, he has embraced computerisation and technological advancement at a level rarely seen in the SME sector; to the point that Mark has taken it 'in house' to develop software systems which integrate with the specialist machinery that already places Proform Products as a pace setter in its industry.

"Great team of 52 staff, software and machine automation will play a big part in the future of our business," says Mark.

That business? Postformed benchtops for kitchens, cut-to-size-componentry for office, kitchen, wardrobes or bathroom, and customised kitchens and cupboards for mine site accommodation refurbishments that can be freighted flat pack to remote locations (an area Mark is eager to expand) ... all formed to absolute precision and the highest-quality, and offered with the confidence of a seven year manufacturer's guarantee.

That is not a typographical error; seven years.

Proform Products competes on quality - exceeding Australian standards - and its ability to custom-design and manufacture domestic and commercial components in quick time. All possible because of Mark's absolute commitment to the constantly increasing efficiencies drawn through his company's integrated chain of automated production.

His latest steps forward in technology have required major alterations at Proform Products 5300m² manufacturing plant in Malaga –two concrete tilt panel walls have been knocked out and equipment re-aligned to facilitate the integration of a state of the art Homag Bargstedt storage system and a new Homag Holzma Beam saw to further enhance the seamless efficiencies that drive the company's ability to meet customer delivery times.

"All of our products are sold in flat packs, assembled by customers," says Mark.

"Our level of technological automation delivers them the quality they desire in the time they want it."

The Proform Products of today is light years advanced from the company formed in 1991 by Mark and two partners - Mark the sole employee in the workshop. He has bought out his partners and now, with wife Renae, who controls administration and accounts, he oversees the company's continuous evolution to maintain its industry leadership.

Ledge joined the Andersons about a decade ago.

"I think it must have been a 'cold call' from Craig (Ruthven) that got us started, Mark says.

"Ledge is a very professional organisation. Craig gets the finance and the associated paperwork sorted trouble-free."
